| MARTINI LOUNGE RADIO announces
new, live morning drive show,
“THE MORNING MARTINI WITH MIKE BOWE”
Thursday, July 3, 2008 - “The Morning Martini with Mike Bowe” is the new live, local morning show on Martini Lounge Radio 1340AM and www.MartiniLoungeRadio.com. Starting Monday, July 7 “The Morning Martini with Mike Bowe” will broadcast live from the Manayunk studios of Marconi Broadcasting LLC, the station’s parent company, during morning drive time, Monday through Friday 6 – 9AM and will include news, weather and traffic, occasional contests and information of general interest to the public.
Bowe says, “To be asked to do mornings at this station at this time is a challenge and a blessing all at once. “The Morning Martini with Mike Bowe,” has a nice ‘ring-a-ding-ding’ to it but it’s always been about the music for me and let’s face it, this music speaks for itself.”
Martini Lounge Radio features swinging standards from Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin and Peggy Lee as well as top shelf new music from Michael Bublé, Diana Krall, Harry Connick, Jr. and Natalie Cole. This is a station with a taste for fine music.
Mike Bowe’s journey in radio began in ‘72 after his discharge from the service. He immediately enrolled at Brown Institute in Minneapolis. Following graduation, Mike got his first radio job in Hammonton NJ with WRDR where Sinatra, Sammy & Dean were kings! Mike did afternoons on the AM side and evenings on the FM side (it was a long and lovely day!) Two years later, he moved on to Millville’s WMVB to do mornings and eventually became program director of the AC station. Its blend of rock and pop music was extremely popular throughout Cumberland County in the mid-70s.
It was 1977 when the call came to host afternoons at the premiere ‘soft rock’ station in the nation at the time, Philadelphia’s MAGIC 103; and there he’d stay until the ‘call from down the hall’ came in 2002 from WPEN, MAGIC’s ‘sister AM station’ and the Adult Standards station in the nation. There was an opening and Mike jumped at the chance. He’d known most of the guys (the late Ken Garland and Joe Niagara) for years and attended many of the WPEN events because they, their audience and that music were just too much fun to be around! Besides, it was required listening in the Bowe household while Mike was growing up in Gloucester City NJ. Sadly, in 2004 the station decided to change and its rich musical history was gone.
For 35 years, Mike has ‘spun’ hits from almost every genre of music. His unmistakable voice, unique style, genuine love for radio and music, has never wavered. Mike will bring all of this and more to “The Morning Martini” each and every weekday from 6-9AM starting Monday, July 7, 2008. |
